How to configure Outlook Express & Outlook

NOTE: These instructions may differ between different versions of outlook.
- Open your Outlook email client.
- From the “Tools” menu, select “Accounts”.
- On the pop-up window that presents, select “Add” then click “Mail”.
- Enter the name you wish to have associated with this email address in the “Display Name” text box, then click “Next”.
- Enter the full email address created for this account within the “Email address:” text box.
- In the “Incoming mail” (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: enter “mail.yourdomain.com (depends on what your registered domain name is)” ( yourdomain is simply an example, replace with the domain name associated with this account).
- In the “Outgoing mail” (SMTP) server: enter “mail.yourdomain.com” (same rules as above apply .
- Click on “Next”.
- Enter the email address you created in the “Account name:” text box and the password you assigned to this address into the “Password:” text box. (this might also be called username depening on what version of outlook you are using)
- Click on the “Servers” tab, and check the box next to “My server requires authentication.”
- Test account settings. If everything is ok then click ok/apply and you are off and running.
- If during test account settings you get an error then try step 13. below.
- If your ISP blocks port 25, you can override the default port number and use port 2525 instead. You will find this area under the “advanced tab”
- Click on “OK.”
